I've had my LG VX10 for four months, dropped calls, sending calls to voice mail with out ringing, echoing seem to be the norm. This phone is now in for repairs. US Cellular has loned me the very same model phone to use while repairs are being made...nice to know the phone is consistant, the loner has the same problems, but on a more frequent basis. Never had these problems with my Nokia 6161.

4.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.0   I like all the features of this phone except.
Reviewer: Anonymous from Charlotte, NC     September 21, 2003
I had this phone for about two months now, Very good phone with all the features that I wanted, good battery life, sturdy , cause I dropped the phone once (phone is in the leather case) on the floor and thought its gone. however nothing happend. good reception , not even a single dropped call , eventhough accessing features is a pain, I am sure once you get used to it, its quick and easy. the only thing I did not like is it doesn't remember some of my settings. when I turned the phone off it forgets my settings and I had to reset the next time I turned on the phone.

I found cheap but good quality accessories at cellphoneshop.net for this phone.

2.0/5.02.0/5.02.0/5.02.0/5.02.0/5.0   Ok Phone!!
Reviewer: Epop from Mississippi     September 20, 2003
First of all let me start off if you haven't purchased one DON'T. The phone itself is alright, but the volume is BAD LOW. When you get an incoming call you can barely hear it. Now if you ever do here the phone ringing and answer it, the person calling you will blow you out of the car.

I have an unlimited plan which is good for all the calls I miss.

2.0/5.02.0/5.02.0/5.02.0/5.02.0/5.0   Nice phone till the screen died
Reviewer: scottymcdee@yahoo.com from Northern Illinois     August 30, 2003
I owned the phone for 5 months, then one day the digital inside and outside display died. I can send and receive calls, but cant access anything...kinda like the TV, all sound, no picture. I'd like to have it replaced since it is still under warranty and I have bought pricey accesories for it, to no avail.

4.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.0   Pretty Good
Reviewer: Anonymous from Chelmsford, MA     August 20, 2003
I got this phone as a replacement for a Samsung TCH 300 that broke, so it was pretty much a freebie for me.

The sound quality and such are very good especially for a phone in this price point. The daily planner and such are nice although I won't get much use out of them.

A problem many people have stated is the ringer not being loud enough. When setting your ring tone and adjusting the ringer volume the phone is pretty quiet, even on the loudest setting. However when you actually get a call the ringer is quite loud. At least as loud as the other 4 cell phones I have owned. And the ear volume is louder than my other phones, which is a plus for me.

It doesn't have any games, but then some of my other phones did and I never used them. The alarm clock function and calculator I do use and they are handy to have.

Over-all its a good phone. I gave it 4 stars outta 5 because like someone mentioned, the menus are not as intuitive as they could be, but they are a lot better than many phones and are not hard to learn so its not a major issue. Pressing the d-pad accesses different types of functions and pressing either of the two side keys access different menus.

Also, when you miss a call, the callback info should be left on the screen, not a useless banner that says "You missed a call! Press OK"

3.0/5.03.0/5.03.0/5.03.0/5.03.0/5.0   Accessing features is a pain! Reception, Battery OK
Reviewer: Doug (dougbusa@yahoo.com) from Oak Ridge, TN     July 14, 2003
As far as reception, battery life, and overall feel, this is a fine phone.

But as far as ease of use, I have a few complaints...

1. It forces you to hit "OK" when you've missed a call, but then it takes a minimum of 4 keystrokes to find out who called you. It should display the missed number and let you just hit "send" to call it (1 keystroke)

2. Irritates the h*** out of you when you have a voice mail, but you actually have to dial your voicemail instead of just hitting one button to dial the voice mail.

3. Phone book is a pain to search, and then when you find the entry and hit view to see it, it keeps going back to the name. If you are just looking up the number to dial a landline, you have to hit "view" 3 or 4 times to get it dialed. I wonder if they did this to make it easier to just hit "send" and use up your cell phone minutes....

4. Text entry in the event scheduler defaults to that stupid T9en entry method. Has anyone on the planet ever found that useful? Try to type the word "appointment" it comes out something like "arsonoghhnou". Is that supposed to be easier. Maybe if your appointments all were named with one letter, but that won't work because it usually randomly picks a letter (any letter as long as it's not the one you actually wanted...)

4. I couldn't care less about it not having games, but to charge for ring tones is ridiculous.

4.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.0   Volume
Reviewer: Suzanna from St. Louis     July 09, 2003
With the windows open and radio on in the car, you cannot hear the ringer. I recently drove from Pittsburgh to St. Louis, and had no problems with reception, but still missed every one of my incoming calls due to volume. I had to return all of my calls... Phone book is lousy too. Phone is not worth full price - buy the new photo phone.

4.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.0   Excellent Value
Reviewer: Greg (gspen@tcmd.net) from Washington State     July 08, 2003
I've owned so many cell phones in the last 10 years I can't even remember them all. Let's see, Motorola Brick, Motorola MiniBrick, Motorola original 550 flip, Qualcomm something-or-other, Audiovox (four different phones), Motorola StarTac, and finally this LG-VX10. Other than the one audiovox phone, there's never been one that did it all and did it all RIGHT. Aside from some goofiness to the menu layouts, this phone is nearly perfect for the price I paid. I'm a 3500+ min/month user, and I'm more concerned about making/receiving calls, and actually being able to HEAR and BE HEARD than I am about having silly games and screensavers (that's why I have a PC). Call clarity is the best I've heard on ANY phone at even 3x the price, and the antenna's gain (the ability to hold a signal) is absolutely first rate. The only reason I hold out from a 5-star is the lack of user customizable menus. BUY YOURS TODAY!
