BECAUSE YOU CAN'T MAKE A F***ING CALL. This phone has such bad reception I'm throwing mine in the trash and getting a different phone. If you value being able to make and recieve calls do not buy this phone, it may look sleek but it is entirely worthless.

I have the Canadian version of this phone called the TM 250, but it works, looks, and acts the same as the VX 3100. This phone has the best reception of any phone I've used (this is in part of the excllent, and brand new, Bell Mobility Network in Vancouver, BC where I live). I have no problem changing the banner, or downloading ringtones on my phone. The numbers of the phone # your dialing are huge, which may be helpful to an older person, or if I suddenly become farsighted for no reason :). I would recommend this phone to anyone who just wants a basic phone, for use as a phone, as the WAP browser and games aren't very good.

You can't change the banner if you're with Verizon. It goes back to "Verizon Wireless," but sometimes, when there's no service you'll see your custom banner on there. Very lightweight, small, sleek and simple otherwise. Like it. Rings are too quiet though, volume isn't very adjustable. Not loud enough, too loud in a quiet room.

In September, my son's LG TM510 phone was stolen from him. When I tried to replace it with the same phone (it was a great phone), was told not made any more. VX3100 was it's replacement. Well it's not. Dropped calls; average of 5 attempts to get a call through and then you're lucky to keep the call. Doesn't matter where you are. Paid $100 for the phone ($50 after rebate). Now they're giving them away for free. The phone isn't worth 50 cents. Verizon won't even talk to me about exchanging the phone.

It is unaccepateble that the earpiece clarity is horrible. Across the board complaints about the banner. It is important to be able to change the banner, it can be used to identify a lost phone. The earpiece volume doesn't go low enough, if you're in a quiet room people can hear your conversation. Ring tones that make phones fun are not an option on this phone. I'm also dropping lots of calls with this phone.

The Phone has good talk time for a small phone at about 2.5 hours of talk time. You can set smart sound feature to help filter out back ground noises does good job. The phone has decent incomming sound and good out going. Ergonomically it feels good (to me). An outside display would be nice but for the price, I couldnt find anything I didnt like. I enjoyed using the phone. I used my Phone on the Bell mobility network..

I have seen may complaints about the banner problem with this phone. There is a chip in the phoen that changes the banner back to Verizon Wireless, I had it changed to my custom Banner but after about 3 seconds it had switched back. But besides this the phone is a good phone if your looking for a good phone to use with out Extra special stuff
