Love the phone, except for the side button...

Best phone I have ever used, except, like other reviewers on here... I absolutely HATE the fact that pressing one of the side buttons causes the ringer mode to change, an me to miss calls. It is impossible to put the phone in your pocket and NOT press this botton at some time during the day.
I would love to know if someone has a software hack to disable this awful "feature".
Other than that, it is a great phone.

Excellent Phone - HoHum Battery life - Poor Manual
|
|
Reviewer: Charles Suitt

This phone has a solid, substantial feel, gorgeous screen, instinctive menu system with a long list of settings. Rings are loud enough so I don't miss incoming calls. Lighted keypad with good sized keys makes entering numbers easy and assigning custom ringers to frequent callers is a nice feature - you know who's calling before answering. Speed and Voice dialing work well, limited to 10 phonebook entries. Documentation (Manual) is not adequately detailed on some features and settings - I still haven't been able to determine what "Auto Volume" does. Placement of the "Volume control buttons" on the side is a problem - you can cut off an incoming call accidentally by pressing this button when retrieving the phone to respond. Battery life is "ho hum" but not what I'd consider a major issue. The "desktop" charger is, in a word, "tacky" - difficult to properly place the phone for recharging and you have to take two pieces when travelling unless you purchase the optional travel charger. All-in-all, a very good device.
Overall, I would rate it 8.5/10.

Echo...Echo...Echo...

My mom and I purchased LGVX4400 phones and have owned them for 15 days. We have an echo on both ends of our own voices when we speak. We have had the phones replaced and that did not solve the problem. We have lowered the volume and we are still plagued by this echo. Has anyone else had this problem? The sound quality of the phone is great but the echo drives us nuts.

on the heating keypad

I've had a similar sensation with the keypad heating up while talking on the phone. For me it wasn't really the keypad but the display. At first I had the display constantly on while opened. When I set the display to turn off after a short while I noticed the heating problem disappeared.

I have never owned my own phone before because I am only 15. I received a phone because I needed one to drive. I was unsure of which phone to buy, but I knew I wanted a color flip phone that I could play games on and access the internet. This phone met all of my requirements and more. It is absolutely unbelievable. It has so many features and settings that no 2 LGVX4400 phones are the same. Its color and ringtone sound are awesome. It is lightweight. The graphics on the games are sweet. The sound when talking to people is great. Not much else to say, but there is so much to so with it, I don't see how you could be unhappy. Buy it. You will like it!

Very Satisfied

I've been using my 4400 for about 3 weeks now. I have to say it - this is the best phone I've ever used overall. Not only can your caller hear you well, but you can hear them well also. Sometimes, I have to adjust the volume because things are 'too' loud (which isn't a bad thing). Signal reception is awesome! I can pick up signals in places that I didn't even know signals could reach. Battery life is pretty good, but the extended-life battery should make battery life great (plus, it doesn't add much bulk to the phone.
I purchased a the phone because of the features that it has (not to mention that it is very attractive). I don't need most of the features now, but at least they're there for future use. The user interface is very friendly, and everything is very visible - main display, secondary display, and buttons are all good. The main screen can tend to wash out a little in bright sunlight, but then, who's color phone doesn't.
The only real complaint that I have concerns the ringers. There is no 'normal' ringer. The only one that even resembles a normal ring is 'ring#1", which is still a little much, and unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a good one to download - apparently, LG thinks that the only tones that people need to download are musical ones. There are no 'r-e-g-u-l-a-r' ringers. No "beep-beep", no "ring-ring", and no one really needs a musical ring - ever!
All in all, though, the phone is great!

I got my LG VX 4400 just a couple a days ago and so far I have no major complained except for the feeling of warm or heat on the keypad. Only after a few minutes on the phone, I started to feel some form of heat on the keypad. Is this common on the LG phone or mine need replacement. Did anyone have that same experienced. Please let me know before my 15 days expire. Thanks

Solid phone. LG finally has gotten their act together

I've had the LG VX4400 for a couple of weeks now, and:
1. The display is one of the best I've seen. colors are OK, digits are HUGE, it is easy to see and use.
2. The backlit digits on the keypad are a real plus. Make's 'em easy to see.
Obviously, LG has finally figured out that not every cell phone user is a 16 year-old with tiny fingers!
3. The UI is well thought out - the keys do what you expect them to do, in the way you expect.
4. The phone book is both intellegently designed and has ample space.
5. The external display is better than some phones internal display.
6. LG finally got SMS right. On most phones, if you are in the middle of a message and (accidentally) press "end" instead of "clear" (to correct something) you're hozed. This phone saves the pending message instead. Also, the "T9" support is very good, if you are writing a message, and T9 doesn't know a word, you drop into character mode, create the word, and return to T9 - when you do this, the phone remembers the new word you entered.
7. This is the first LG phone I've seen (it's been about a year or two) that works with a headset.
8. Signal sensitivity is the best I've seen. I live in a SUCK signal area, and this grabs signals that other phones just wish for.
9. Battery life is OK.
10. The leather case does not allow the phone to close far enough - so it has a tendancy to spring open on you - use the plastic belt-clip instead.
Summary: One of the best phones I've had.

I bought a small flipphone because i like to keep it in my pocket and forget about it. Unfortunately the buttons on the side DO NOT LOCK. It is constantly turning on the backlight and running down my batteries. Plus, a side button changes the ringer so you never know if it will ring or not.
I've had to resort to wearing the belt clip, and i find this VERY annoying.
