BEAUTIFUL PHONE, BUT I'M NOT SURE IT'S NECESSARY.

I just bought this phone earlier today, upgrading from an older phone that is two years old.
Personally, I was not looking to buy a color phone. I don't intend to play games on it, or use the web, or want to download pictures or ring tones. However, the phone is beautiful. The numbers/letters are large, colors vibrant, volume extremely good, has voice activation features, color sequence features, etc., etc., etc. . But do I need all of this crap?
I read that the LG VX3100 (a smaller and thinner flip phone offered by VERIZON) is just as good, but without all those bells & whistles. My reason for not buying that phone is that it doesn't offer the external caller ID display without opening the flip. Other than that, my cell-phone has one important purpose... to send & receive calls.
I have 15 days to return or exchange the LG VX4400 through VERIZON. Quite frankly, I don't think I need all that color jazz, and I may exchange it for the VX3100 for 1/2 the price.
Nevertheless, if you want the web, games, music and other cool features, buy this phone... it's beautiful.

this phone is the best that i have ever owned. it is very user friendly and easy to understand. some downsides are the mediocre battery life and it tends to go into analog mode often which gets very annoying becuase it drops calls in analog. it also sucks that it doesn't come with any games, you have to pay to download them. it has excellent color and sound and overall is a very good phone

Great phone - needs a "normal" ringer.

I've owned about 5 cell phones, and the VX4400 is bar far the best yet. Yes, it has a cool full-color LCD screen, and yes, it will play games and tons of musical ringers, but how important is that...really. This phone is made well, has good backlighting and good battery life. It holds a signal very well, and has the BEST sound quality I've ever heard on a cell phone. The menus are easy to navigate, and the phone has lots of useful features. My ONLY complaint about this phone are the ringers. What was LG thinking? The polyphonic ringer sounds great for tunes and all, but we aren't all 17 years old! Some of us need a ringer that is suitable in a buisness environment. This phone does not come with a single one. None. They all sound cheesey or they are musical. Other than that, GREAT phone.
