I have had 5phones 5160,3360,8265,8265i,5165. The 5165 has gotten the best reception so far! Yes it is outdated, old, and bulky, but never breaks or screw up and I drop it casually. This phone is a loaner phone from cingular until next month. I will be getting a 3560,color phone!! NOKIA'S GREAT PHONES ALL TOGETHER!!

The Nokia 5100 series phone has been a good first cell phone for myself. These phones are now older, and most service providers no longer offer them. As far as I know, only Cingular still offers them, and the phone is free with most plans. The 5100 is a very popular phone, and many people own one. A wide variety of accessories is made for this phone. Reception has always been crystal-clear on my phone, and has never been a problem, nor has reliability or battery life. However, this phone is very large, heavy, and bulky. This phone is definetly not for you if you are seeking a sleek, compact phone. This phone is so bulky, I know many people, including myself, that have developed oil clots on their legs from carrying this phone around in their pockets. Some people will find this very annoying. Overall, this is a very basic, solid, no-frills phone. I have enjoyed owning it for the most part, although I am replacing it with a Motorola V60 at the end of next month.

This is the first phone i ever got, it is okay. It is way too big I had never had a reception problem. Its a waste to pay for though. . I would recommend the 8265 or 8260 because they are light and compact.
