Not the greatest phone out there

This phone does alright, if its just a phone that you are looking for. If you have a lot of patience, then this is the phone for you. i will admit, the battery life is alright, but the meter for it sucks. it will stay at full bars for a few days, then after it loses that top bar, within hours, my phone is dead, without a radical amount of usage. very misleading. the reception on it is not too bad, but it isnt great either. i have had the problem with the power cutting off for no reason, and i think it's because the battery compartment is just a tad bit too big for the battery, so it can move around off of the connectors. that is all i have to say about this phone.

A multitude of problems & no solution from Cingular

I loved my old Nokia, but I was able to get a better 'home' area eliminating roaming charges when I wasn't roaming, so I switched to the Ci ngular "Super Home Plan". This came with the Nokia 6340i "GAIT" phone (850/1900 MHz GSM, TDMA and Analog Networks ). Good price, but the phone is a nightmare! It occassionally turns itself off, often 're-boots' itself, and the reception is horrendous. I can go outside to call, have 5 bars, and then suddenly have 0 bars, and lose the call. It uses the old Nokia plug for the headphone, that stabs you in the palm of your right hand and is easily knocked out (just STUPID - my last Nokia used the mini- plug head phones, so this is a step backward.
The reception defys explaination... it is there, then it isn't, like the antenna is directional, and is located on a truck that's driving around the area. The reception sucks. Nokia won't respond to any of my complaints and reqest for sof tware upgrades, OR when a replacement for this GAIT phone will be produced. Cingular has NO answers. They say we have 2 GAIT phones... I know the Nokia sucks (and I LOVED my last Nokia - it was 2/3 the size, and the reception was fine!), and according to what I've read, the Sony-Erickson T62 is as bad.
I give up. I'll pay 25-50% more for Verizion, but, I can't stand these problems with the phone.

i m on my second nokia 6340i phone in 3 weeks and i will send it in for my forth the phone has a problem when i power on i get batt bar and that is it phone sucks bad

I now have this annoying buzz form time to time. The annoying thing it does is you cant lock the keys. You can turn it on and off and lock keys again but soon it wont lock, AGAIN.
IDIOTS need to make BETTER phones............ Why are they getting WORSE!!!!!!!!

I have the 6340i with cingular and It's great. You can find faceplates for it at yahoo shopping. The reception is great but the sound in the ear peice is a slight bit tinny but still good. Changing the faceplate voids your warrenty because u need to remove screws to do it. Thats why the 4 stars.

It would be easier to talk about the problems I havent had with this phone. It still turns on. It has not exploded during use, which would actually make me happy. I am on my way to throw this thing in the urinal. If you like stuff that sucks get this phone. Masochists would love this phone.

My phone would self power off until the tech at the Cingular store put a small piece of velcro in the battery compartment. I haven't had a problem since. Also face plates can be found that fit nicely from an independent dealer. I have an American flag face plate that works well as well as looking great too.

I have had close to 15 phones since ive been with cingular and they all mess up. even this one. ive had 4 of this model and several of the sony t61 t62 and t62u and they always screw up my bill... so someone please help me sue them!

this phone sucks major nutz! it freezes up, has bad reception, turns off and doesnt turn back on for like 15 min. you cant find a faceplate for it anywhere and the few that are out stink. oh and if u want to put a faceplate on it you have to have some cingular guy do it, you cant change it your self. i get horrible reception with this phone
if your gonna get a phone do not get this one
