I bought a Treo 270 about 18 months ago, as a PDA/phone it has been great. However the biggest issue I have had ( I am now using my 5th phone!) is that the flip screen keeps breaking at the hinges. Once would have been fine, but the screen hinge has broken on 3 separate occasions and the other two had different defects.

First the good news is this is the best PDA/cell phone available as of April, 2003. It balances these two aspects to the point its the only thing I carry. I've used the Motorola Accompli, Audiovox Threa, assorted HP and compaq's and its no contest. Issues are - poor headset jack (just like the 2 Treo 180's I also sent back for repair) and cell phone carriers poor GPRS performance, which Handspring really can't do much about - ergo the complaints you'll see about their tech support. I have seen imporvements as AT&T provided upgrade patches while GSM from another carrier still gave poor internet surfing and email support. THousands of dollars later this is the best performer there is although competitors promise more I've found none yet that deliver!

Having returned my phone twice, and being asked to again by the technical support internet site - as no one will speak to you, unless you are prepared to pay - I am extremely unhappy with Handspring. The device is excellent, but no good if the software cannot be made to work as promised. The main problems resolve around the GPRS upgrade and the subsequent synchronising with the desktop. I have already lost all my data once.
