I bought this fat brick hoping to keep organized with appointments, working hours (as I'm a consultant), store all in- and outgoing messages (like a diary written by several "coauthors").. and much more. Numerous times my phone's operating system crashed, and me having to swith the phone off and on again. Several useful features doesn't work - like the voice memo - which doesn't record anthing but silence. But ... the WORST thing: After having stored over 3000 sms (which no software can extract), loads of working hours and appointments, the phone came up with a message saying "There's been detected an inconsistency in the memory. The disk has to be formatted". And the only option was "Continue". I hoped it would just reinstall the firmware, but everything was gone, even my Norwegian language option and severeal applications were lost as well as all my data. As I'm a software developer, I contacted Sony Ericsson, asking for API libraries and spesifications enabling me to write freeware sms/mms extraction software for P800 on Windows PCs. But their answer was a plai NO. Great! My phone i insured. I'll try have it stolen or make some "accident" happen to it. I feel fooled. Grrrr!

Contrary to another review, I found my P800 to work flawlessly from the minute it came out of the box. I've used it Europe, New Zealand and in North America. No problem. Pop in a SIM card and it just works. Simple as that. I like the functions it offers and the camera features. The fact that I can sync with my contacts etc. (and that this feature worked first try) is a plus. The instruction manual is lacking a bit in detail, so you end up doing some experiments in order to sort some things out. But that's part of learning how to use all it's features as well.
However, if I was to make this purchase again, I spend the extra $$ and go for the P910.

Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever received. Have had the phone for 6 months and it has not worked for 1 day. Have spent 20 hours on the phone with Sony and they finally told me 6 months later they would do nothing to fix the fact that I got a lemon. I spent $700 on a phone that doesn't work and Sony just said tough. NEVER BUY A SONY PRODUCT IF YOU WANT ANY SERVICE. THIS IS MY 3RD AND LAST SONY PHONE AS NONE HAVE ACTUALLY WORKED.
